Amy McMillen

I started my career in New York City as a product manager working in financial technology until I decided that the most important product to me is personal and collective wellbeing.

So I packed up my Times Square apartment, embarked on a road trip across the U.S., and haven’t looked back. I’ve redesigned my life to value freedom, learning, and creativity.

I studied Systems & Environmental Engineering at the University of Virginia, as well as with sustainability experts in Sweden, Denmark, and Costa Rica. I’m also certified in Permaculture Design.

Past ventures I've helped build include an events-based storytelling platform, a fashion startup to help emerging designers and brands, and a series of run-a-thons across southern U.S. cities to raise money for local civic organizations

I am from Costa Rica but have lived in Vermont since 2001. I have been with technology since the early 90s, and then studied Computer Science, Math and eventually a PhD in Bioinformatics, while also keeping a serious Zen Buddhist practice since 1996. I work with technology daily and have seen and been concerned by the effect it can have in myself and others. I look forward to sharing some of what has been helpful and learning from others.
